Jaguar sure seems to be taking its time in developing and testing the facelifted XF, as we’ve seen prototypes on public roads as early as last fall.
The latest batch of spy shots put the spotlight on the long wheelbase version of the sedan, which will continue to be limited to the Chinese market, despite wearing UK license plates in this case, as well as the Sportbrake, which is Jag slang for estate.
Likely retaining the XF L nameplate of the current iteration, the long wheelbase model will stick to the same updates as the sedan. These will consist of a new grille, headlights and revised bumper at the front, as well as sleeker looking taillights and a reshaped boot lid, in addition to the enhanced legroom for backseat occupants.

The changes will be echoed by the 2021 XF Sportbrake, Jaguar’s alternative to other executive wagons, such as the BMW 5-Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6 and Volvo V90. All three models, including the facelifted sedan, are expected with new technology gear inside, such as the 12.3-inch digital gauges found in the smaller XE. An updated infotainment system should be part of the changes, a well as another touchscreen display that will be used to control the HVAC system.
The engine family is understood to feature cleaner RDE2-compliant diesels in Europe and other markets. The rumored 395 HP 3.0-liter mild-hybrid is unlikely to join the lineup, as the facelifted XF’s platform is outdated, and it remains to be seen whether the V6 will still be offered.
Everything should come to light in a few months time, when the 2021 XF is expected to premiere.
