Nissan’s all-new 2021 Rogue (X-Trail) SUV will be unveiled next week on Monday, June 15 at 9:00 AM EDT. The new model abides by the carmaker’s latest design philosophy, featuring sportier styling and a more modern interior than its predecessor.

Truth be told, we already know what to expect in regards to styling, following the first prototypes that began public testing last year and multiple renderings that we felt accurately depicted the car, a slew of actual official photos of the SUV flooded the internet recently, leaving nothing to the imagination.

That’s not to say we dislike the design in any way, since it’s definitely a step forward for the Japanese carmaker. The new Rogue features split headlights, a more prominent V-Motion grille, vertical intakes and door mounted mirrors. It also has a floating A-Pillar design, just as we anticipated.

Inside the new Rogue there is a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel, fully digital gauge cluster and a top-mounted infotainment display, which is very practical. The switchgear for the climate control system is underneath and not embedded into the display, which is another practical choice.

The center console meanwhile houses a small shifter knob and a rotary selector for the terrain settings. Overall build quality should be good, as with all compact and bigger Nissan models of late.

Powering the all-new Rogue should be a range of gasoline and Renault-sourced diesel units (just gasoline in the U.S. and both in Europe). With the former, it would make sense for Nissan to ditch the current model’s 170 HP 2.5-liter unit in favor of the Altima’s newer 2.5-liter four-pot with its 188 HP.

The Rogue remains a pivotal car for Nissan, especially in the U.S. where the nameplate finished 2019 as the country’s sixth best-selling model with 350,447 units. It finished third in its segment, behind the Toyota RAV4 and the Honda CR-V.

Despite the unveiling taking place so soon, U.S. buyers will have to wait until fall in order to see the 2021 Rogue in showrooms.
