Back in April, Hennessey presented the HPE 900 upgrade for the second-gen Audi R8, and a few days ago, they released a short video that puts the spotlight on the build process, culminating with a lab test that reveals the output and torque and ultimately showing it in the open.
But what does the package bring to the party? In short, a lot of new internals, including two turbochargers, blow-off valves, air-to-water intercooler, air induction system, stainless steel exhaust system and so on.
The result is a whopping 912 HP developed at 7,400 rpm, which enables a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) of 2.6 seconds and a quarter-mile run of 9.8 seconds with an exit speed of 145 mph (233 km/h).

Hennessey claims that, until the boost kicks in, their R8 behaves like a stock one. That’s a very bold statement, considering that it demonstrated that it can put down 752 horsepower and 545 pound-feet (739 Nm) of torque at the wheels, while it was strapped to the dyno. Mind you, the German supercar was using a 6 psi boost and regular pump gas, so just imagine what it would do with high-octane fuel in the tank.
We cannot tell you how much it costs, as the Texan tuner hasn’t dropped any prices, but one thing’s for sure: with the HPE 900 kit installed, this R8 could smoke some very big names.
For reference, the stock V10 Performance model, in its latest iteration, needs 3.1 seconds to sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) and will keep on going up to 205 mph (331 km/h) courtesy of its 5.2-liter naturally aspirated that V10 produces 611 HP and 427 lb-ft (580 Nm) of torque.
