Interestingly, the European and U.S. models are a little different from each other. In the U.S., Honda has managed to shave away 20.9 kg (46 lbs) thanks to lightweight BBS wheels and by reducing sound deadening materials and removing features including the rear wiper, cargo cover and rear heater ducts. In Europe, Honda has gone even further and stripped out 47 kg (103.6 lbs) of weight by removing additional features like the infotainment and air conditioning systems.

Key mechanical modifications made to the Civic Type R Limited Edition include specially tuned dampers and recalibrated steering for improved control and feedback.

Power continues to come from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with VTEC that produces 306 hp and 295 lb-ft (401 Nm) of torque in U.S. form and 316 hp and 295 lb-ft in European guise. All 700 units bound for production throughout the U.S. and Europe feature a Phoenix Yellow paint scheme, called Sunlight Yellow in Europe.
