Electric vehicles are looking to go mainstream, but consumers are still wary about a lack of charging stations.
Electrify America is looking to solve that as they have been opening more than one EV fast charging station every business day.
That’s significant process, but the big news is the completion of the company’s first cross-country route. It runs along Interstates 15 and 70, and spans 11 states as well as over 2,700 miles (4,345 km).

The route connects Los Angeles to Washington D.C. and has charging stations that are positioned an average of 70 miles (113 km) apart. Thankfully, many of them are also located by “shopping and dining amenities” so you’ll have something to do while your car recharges.
While the company’s first cross-country route is a notable achievement, it won’t be their last as a second cross-country route is slated to be finished by September. It will run across the southern United States and connect Jacksonville, Florida to San Diego, California.
There are still significant gaps elsewhere in the country, but Electrify America says that by the end of 2021, they’ll have approximately 800 charging stations either completed or in development. That’s a significant increase from the more than 435 that are operational today.
According to Electrify America’s director of operations, Anthony Lambkin, “Electrify America’s primary goal has always been to advance electric vehicle adoption in the U.S., and that starts by instilling feelings of confidence and freedom in consumers when it comes to EV ownership. The completion of our first cross-country route is a significant step towards that goal – by making long-distance travel in an EV a reality, we hope to encourage more consumers to make the switch to electric.”
