Kelly-Moss Porsche 911 ‘Willy’ Safari Is A $375,000 Gem

Kelly-Moss Road and Race (KMR) builds some of the finest Porsche 911 ‘Safari’ models on earth, and this gorgeous matte black example known as ‘Willy’ is one of its best projects.

The 911 started out life as a 1984 Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera and was purchased by KMR’s director of operations Andy Kilcoyne in March 2018. The initial plan called for the car to receive just a handful of personal touches but, before long, it turned into the most comprehensive build that Kelly-Moss has ever done.

Over the course of 10 months, the car was stripped down and had every piece replaced, renewed, rebuilt, or reimagined. Key visual changes include swollen wheel arches, an aluminum front bumper, a 30-inch Black Oak LED light bar in the front bumper, a 30-inch curved rear light bar, and a 40-inch light bar on the roof. There are also a set of 17×7 Braid Fuchs replica wheels with 245/65 R17 BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires.

To ensure the 911 Safari is immensely capable off the beaten path, it has received Exe-TC adjustable inverted twin-tube gravel dampers, Eibach springs, KMR-reinforced front lower control arms and Elephant Racing suspension bushings.

Slotted behind the cabin is a KMR-built 3.4-liter engine with fuel injection, Mahle high compression pistons and cylinders, custom ground camshafts, MoTeC engine management and more, to deliver an impressive 340 HP. A manual gearbox with a Guard billet limited-slip differential completes the powertrain package.

The interior has received just as many modifications as the exterior and includes Recaro leather seats, a MoTeC digital dash display, Porsche Classic GPS radio, JL Audio amplifier, Focal speakers, a Momo Prototipo steering wheel, and a custom roll cage.

All the work that went into this project means that it must command quite a high price – and, in fact, the 911 Carrera ‘Willy’ Safari was recently sold for $375,000.
