Despite the fact it won’t go into production until 2021, the Tesla Cybertruck has developed a massive following.

The wait has provoked fans to create their own Cybertrucks and that’s the story behind this project which is up for grabs on eBay.

Based on a 1988 Chevrolet C/K 3500, it is being sold as is in an unfinished state. However, some work has already been done as the original body has been removed and replaced by the vague outline of a Cybertruck.

It remains unclear how much of the exoskeleton is actually usable, but the listing says the truck has been equipped with a custom suspension and 37-inch beadlock wheels. We can also see a winch, two red seats and a massive tachometer.

Power is provided by a 7.4-liter big block V8 which is mated to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission. However, the seller notes, “you could drop in a diesel and roll coal in a Tesla dually.”

Of course, there’s still a ton of work to be done before the project is complete. Body panels need to be made and windows need to be installed – plus, whoever ends up buying it will want to install a proper roll cage and supports.

Despite this, there have already been 17 bids and the project is up to $6,099 (£4,632 / €5,162) as of this writing. Still, the reserve hasn’t been met and the auction isn’t scheduled to end until September 13th.
