In the Challenger SRT Demon, Dodge created one of the most accelerative vehicles on the market that can actually dip into the 9-second range down the quarter-mile.

However, can the Demon keep up with a supercharged Lamborghini Huracan Performante from VG Engineering? Hoonigan recently set out to answer that question.

Driving the Huracan is, of course, Lamborghini’s 5.2-liter V10 which, thanks to the fitment of a supercharger, is pumping out 640 hp at the wheels. Apart from that, everything else on the Huracan is stock. By comparison, the Dodge Demon’s 6.2-liter supercharged V8 is good for 840 hp (at the crank) and 770 lb-ft (1,042 Nm) of torque when running on race gas.

When Dodge released the limited-run Demon, it was very proud of the fact that the car could hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 2.3 seconds and run down the quarter-mile in just 9.65 seconds. However, in the couple of years that the car has been on the market, it has become apparent that those figures are only achievable on a prepped drag strip in absolutely ideal conditions and with the impossibly thin front tires bolted on. When driven on the street and on non-prepped surfaces, it just isn’t as fast.

These drag races were held on an airstrip and the all-wheel drive system of the Lamborghini allowed it to jump off the line much quicker than the Dodge. Did in the rolling drag race from 30 mph which should, in theory, allow the Demon to more effectively put its power to the ground, manage the Demon get even with the tuned Lambo?
