A handful of spy shots have emerged out of China reportedly showing the production-spec version of the VW ID. Roomzz during testing.

It is unclear what name the SUV will adopt for production but some outlets speculate that it will be dubbed the ID.6. Either way, we know it will be larger than the forthcoming ID.4 and can be expected to launch in 2021.

The ID. Roomzz concept that previewed the electric SUV was 4,915 mm (193.5 inches) long, 1,890 mm (74.4 inches) wide, 1,760 mm (69.3 inches) tall, and rocked a 2,965 mm (116.7 inch) wheelbase. Based on these spy shots from Autospy, as well as the similarities between the ID.4 and the ID. Crozz concept that previewed it, we think it’s unlikely VW has messed with the dimensions of the ID. Roomzz in readying the SUV for production.

The black and white camouflage hides much of the vehicle’s design but again, VW’s new ID models have stuck very true to the concept’s that came before them. If this is the case with the ID.6, we can expect LED headlights and twin LED light bars up front, immediately distinguishing the front end from the smaller ID.3 and ID.4.

One particularly interesting aspect of the ID. Roomzz were the sliding front and rear doors. While they looked cool on the concept, the location of the door handles on this prototype confirms it will have traditional doors. That’s a bit of a shame but hardly a surprise.

When presented, the concept had an 82 kWh battery pack mounted in the floor and feeding two electric motors producing a combined 302 hp and offering up to 279 miles (450 km) of range on the WLTP cycle. It remains to be seen if these figures will go unchanged for the production model.
