Ferrari introduced the Portofino at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, and it appears the model is due for some mid-cycle updates as a camouflaged prototype has been spotted running around Maranello.

While the changes don’t stand out, it appears the model will have a revised front bumper with sportier air intakes.

The evolutionary design continues out back as we can see a new bumper and a more aggressive diffuser. The trunk also appears more streamlined and better integrated into the rear end.

Spy photographers didn’t get a look inside the cabin, but changes will likely be minor. However, the model could adopt a new steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster and an updated infotainment system.

The current Portofino features a turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 engine that produces 592 hp (441 kW / 600 PS) and 561 lb-ft (760 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission which enables the hardtop convertible to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.5 seconds, before hitting a top speed in excess of 199 mph (320 km/h).

While it’s possible the engine could carryover, EPA documents suggest it will get a performance boost to match the Roma. If this happens, we can expect a slightly higher output of 612 hp (456 kW / 620 PS).

Besides the extra power, the facelifted Portofino could be equipped with the Roma’s eight-speed dual-clutch transmission which is derived from the gearbox used in the SF90 Stradale. This would presumably make the car a bit faster and more fuel efficient.
