The 2021 Mazda3 gained a new turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and the company has now announced it will also be available on the CX-30 crossover.
The engine produces 250 hp (186 kW / 253 PS) and 320 lb-ft (433 Nm) of torque with premium fuel, but that figure drops to 227 hp (169 kW / 230 PS) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) on regular. It will likely be connected to a six-speed automatic transmission and Mazda confirmed all-wheel drive will come standard.
On the styling front, the CX-30 Turbo is distinguished by gloss black mirrors and 18-inch alloy wheels with a black finish. The model also has slightly larger exhaust tips and turbo badging on the tailgate.

Mazda said buyers can expect an elegant interior with chrome accents, a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror and an 8.8-inch infotainment system. Drivers will also find a 12-speaker Bose audio system, a multi-function steering wheel and a black upper dashboard.
The CX-30 Turbo will offered with an assortment of i-Activsense safety features including an adaptive front-lighting system, traffic sign recognition technology and a 360° view monitor. There will also be Smart City Brake Support with Rear Cross-Traffic Braking and Traffic Jam Assist. The latter builds on the adaptive cruise control system by providing steering inputs that help to keep the car centered in its lane at speeds under 40 mph (64 km/h).
The CX-30 Turbo is slated to go on sale in the United States before the end of year, and full details will be announced closer to launch. Pricing remains unconfirmed, but the model will likely be more expensive than the Mazda3 Turbo which begins at $29,900 before a destination charge of up to $990.
