BMW Chairman Harald Krüger recently hinted the company would have a “very exciting surprise” for the Frankfurt Motor Show and it now appears he was talking about the X7 concept.
In a teaser image released earlier today, the company confirmed plans for a “big” debut on September 8th. BMW declined to say what the model is but promised it will have “modernity, luxury, and presence.”
The teaser image appears to show a relatively large crossover with a panoramic glass roof and a distinctive Y-shaped support structure. We can also see a four-seat interior with what could be a full-length center console.
BMW isn’t saying anything but previous reports have suggested the X7 could be offered in an ultra-luxury trim that has individual seating for four people. The high-end model is billed as a Range Rover competitor and it will reportedly have a more upscale interior than the standard X7. The model could cost less than $200,000 and make up around one percent of X7 sales.
Getting back to the concept, it will reportedly preview the production crossover and come equipped with a fuel cell powertrain.
