While many traditional sports and supercar makers have ditched naturally aspirated engines and jumped on the turbocharged bandwagon, Chevrolet has launched a new Corvette without forced induction.

Not only that, but as everyone knows by now, the engine has moved from the front to the middle and power is channeled to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

In the sportiest version, the C8’s 6.2-liter LT2 V8 pumps out 495 horsepower (502 PS / 369 kW) and 470 pound-feet (637 Nm) of torque. This translates to a top speed of 194 mph (312 km/h) and a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint in less than 3 seconds. According to the bowtie brand, the official quarter mile time is 11.2 seconds with a 121 mph (195 km/h) exit speed.

In the United States, the 2020 ‘Vette has an MSRP of $58,900, which makes it an absolute bargain. However, right noe it’s not that affordable on the other side of the pond. For instance, the one driven by CarWow in the UK was obtained by an independent dealer named Clive Sutton snd came at a hefty £132,000, which equals to over $170,000 at current exchange rates.

It’s worth noting that you cannot buy the C8 via an official dealer just yet if you live in the UK, and you probably won’t be able to for another one or two years, when the car will launch in right-hand drive. Prototypes are currently being tested and will launch first in Japan, following other RHD markets in 2021 or 2022.
