Prior to the long-awaited unveiling of the all-electric GMC Hummer, it has been confirmed that shoppers will be able to reserve their vehicle for just $100.

GMC will begin its promotional campaign for the Hummer EV next week with commercials during Game 1 of the Major League Baseball World Series, during the broadcast of ‘The Voice’, and across various streaming and social media platforms. According to vice president of GMC Marketing Phil Brook, the campaign is expected to generate more than 1 billion impressions.

“It’s a very large scale, multiplatform, multiscreen reveal campaign,” he told Auto News during a recent interview. “What we really want to do is set GMC Hummer EV up as an iconic nameplate. To do that, you really need broad awareness, broad appeal and maximum excitement.”

The moment the new GMC Hummer is unveiled on October 20 at 8 P.M. EDT, reservations will open on the company’s website. Customers will be able to choose from four trim levels, select their preferred deal and make a $100 deposit to secure an allocation. Brook added that when reserved vehicles are close to production, dealers will finalize the orders.

It’s not just individual customers that are gearing up for the launch of the EV but also GMC dealerships. In fact, Auto News reports that just over half of GMC’s dealerships have elected to sell the new Hummer, meaning they will need to be upgraded to accommodate the sales and service of EVs.

It is understood the vehicle’s powertrain will produce 1,000 hp and 11,500 lb-ft (15,592 Nm) of wheel torque (though, as with other EVs, it’s highly likely that it’s measured in a different way than regular torque from gas engines) , allowing it to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3 seconds. The GMC Hummer will also include an intriguing ‘Crab Mode’.
