The 2022 GMC Hummer EV is a bit confusing to some people. Is it a GMC? A Hummer? Or maybe both?

GM hesitated to bring the Hummer brand back as a standalone marque and made it a sub-brand under GMC instead. Besides the obvious financial and logistical advantages of this move, The General probably had another reason to do this.

You see, the Hummer brand has always been associated with excess, and that’s something that doesn’t quite fit in the 2020s, which look set to be dominated by zero-emissions cars. As a result, the Hummer has reinvented itself as an all-electric performance pickup truck.

That doesn’t mean the Hummer has been tamed, quite the contrary. Its three electric motors produce a total of 1,000 HP (746 kW / 1,014 PS) and 11,500 lb-ft (15,593 Nm) of combined axle torque, enabling the Hummer EV to do 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just 3 seconds. Plus, the Ultium battery pack powering the motors enables the truck to have a range in excess of 350 miles (563 km).

While the performance of the GMC Hummer EV can hardly be criticized, some may find the design of the electric truck not over-the-top enough for something that wears big Hummer lettering on the grille and tailgate.

If you’re part of this category, Abimelec Design has something for you: the GMC Hummer EV 6×6. The Photoshop expert added an extra set of wheels to the truck to accentuate the muscular, squared off look. The rest has been left pretty much stock, except for a set of lights in the bumper. So what do you think, is a 6×6 version more worthy of the Hummer name?
