The latest-generation Genesis G80 has finally reached American shores and in these early first reviews of the car, we get to see what it is like both in 2.5-liter and 3.5-liter forms.

Immediately distinguishing the new G80 from the previous model is the overhauled exterior. Like other new models from the South Korean automaker, the latest G80 has ‘Quad Lamp’ headlights and an expansive grille finished in chrome. Spin around to the rear and you will find quad taillights and uniquely-shaped tailpipes.

The first drive posted below is of the flagship 3.5T model. Pricing for this variant starts at $59,100 and the 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 is good for 375 hp and 391 lb-ft (530 Nm) of torque. Other upgrades that the 3.5T enjoys over the 2.5T model including 19-inch wheels, a power trunk, and a panoramic glass roof. It also includes a digital key, power closing doors and electronically controlled suspension.

While driving this model, the reviewer at Redline says that the engine offers very good performance and adds the transmission works brilliantly. Sure, it doesn’t feel like a sports sedan but nor should it as it is about luxury and comfort.

Compared to the 3.5T model, the Genesis G80 2.5T has a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 300 hp and 311 lb-ft (421 Nm) of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission sending power to the rear wheels, although all-wheel drive is an option. Prices for the entry-level 2.5T RWD Standard start at a respectable $47,700.
