Jaguar rarely builds cars that don’t look good and the facelifted 2021 F-Type is the latest in a long line of beautifully-styled models from the British car manufacturer.
The revamped F-Type made its North American debut at the Chicago Auto Show in late January and is immediately identifiable from pre-facelifted models by its front end that sports new headlights which more closely mimic those of other Jaguar models. Other modifications made include redesigned front and rear bumpers, as well as a host of new wheel designs.
A number of alterations have also been made to the cabin. For example, the 2021 F-Type has a digital instrument cluster and the company’s latest infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and over-the-air updates.

Sitting at the top of the range is the F-Type R, and it is this version that Matt Farah from The Smoking Tire recently had the opportunity to test. It is powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 that is good for 567 hp and is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels, allowing it to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in a mere 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h).
After driving the 2021 F-Type R, Farah walked away impressed. He comments that the transmission is good, even though it doesn’t shift as fast as a dual-clutch, and the ride is much better than the pre-facelift model.
