Mopar Gives The Electric Fiat 500 A Modest Makeover

Fiat’s electric runabout is already pretty stylish, but that hasn’t stopped Mopar from trying to improve the new 500.

Among the more than 80 available accessories are brass and chrome exterior packages, diamond-cut wheels and a “chevron motif” that can be applied to the roof.

The company also offers a “Sport Techno” lineup of accessories that includes mirror caps, badging and 17-inch alloy wheels with a matte maratea gray finish. These can be accented by appliqués for the roof and sides of the vehicles.

To spruce up the cabin, customers can order illuminated door sill plates and an ambient lighting system. Mopar also offers an assortment of key covers and a so-called “tunnel pocket” with compartments for your phone, makeup and a vanity case.

As with other models, the 500 can be equipped with a D-Fence Pack which promises to create a healthier interior environment. It includes an air purifier, a high-pressure passenger compartment filter and an ultraviolet (UV) light. Mopar says the package sanitizes the cabin as it can eliminate up to 99% of bacteria.

Other accessories include a 500e-branded “cable tidy” and vehicle protection plans such as extended warranties.

Introduced earlier this year, the Fiat 500 is available in three body styles with two different powertrains. Entry-level variants feature a 23.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which powers an electric motor that develops 94 hp (70 kW / 95 PS). This enables the 3+1 Hatchback to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 9.5 seconds, hit a top speed of 84 mph (135 km/h) and travel more than 111 miles (180 km) in the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure.

Higher end variants have a larger 42 kWh battery and an upgraded motor that produces 116 hp (87 kW / 118 PS). This cuts the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time to 9.0 seconds, while the top speed and range increases to 93 mph (150 km/h) and 199 miles (320 km) respectively.
