The UK’s 2030 ban on new gasoline and diesel-powered cars has sped up DS Automobiles’ own timeline for electrification, as the French premium brand now pledging to meet these new guidelines five years ahead of time.
DS will be “exclusively electrified” by the year 2025, meaning it will offer an electric variant across its entire model range, with fully electric and plug-in hybrid models available to customers.
DS is already the only premium carmaker to have met the EU’s 95g/km CO2 target.

“The ambitious transition to Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicles (ULEVs) by the Government must be met with equally ambitious work from the industry. DS Automobiles has been a pioneering force for electric and plug-in vehicles since the beginning and is in a strong position to meet the new guidelines five years ahead of time, through its continued investment in and development of pioneering electrified vehicles,” said DS marketing director for the UK, Mark Blundell.
DS has been a pioneer with regards to electrification for many years. They’ve competed in Formula E since the sport kicked off in 2014, with the DS TECHEETAH team winning the title in 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 – the series’ first-ever team to win the championship twice.
The company then used that experience from its six seasons in Formula E in order to develop and grow its range of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
They currently offer the DS 3 Crossback E-TENSE, DS 7 Crossback E-TENSE, and soon to arrive will be the DS 9, the brand’s first premium saloon.
