General Motors has used the Barclays Global Automotive Conference to reveal new details about their zero emissions future.
Starting with new models, GM will launch 30 EVs globally by 2025. More than 20 of them will be available in North America and they’ll come from brands ranging from Chevrolet to Cadillac. This will ensure there are electric vehicles at “all price points for work, adventure, performance and family use.”
While the company wasn’t ready to go into specifics, they confirmed a number of upcoming North American releases including “Low Roof Entries” from Cadillac. GM teased this back in 2017, but it’s finally official and likely means there is an electric sports car or coupe on the horizon.
Cadillac will also offer the previously announced Lyriq as well as a handful of other electric crossovers. They’ll be joined by the Celestiq flagship and a full-size SUV.

Moving on to GMC, the professional grade brand will offer the Hummer EV pickup as well as a Hummer EV SUV which was teased at the event. They’ll eventually be joined by a mainstream electric pickup, which should be more affordable than the Hummer EV which costs between $79,995 and $112,595.
Speaking of affordable models, Chevrolet will offer an assortment of mainstream EVs. Besides the 2022 Bolt and Bolt EUV, the bowtie brand will have an electric full-size pickup which is likely similar to GMC’s. Chevrolet will also offer a handful of electric crossovers as well as “Low Roof Entries.”
As with Cadillac, the low roof model is likely an electric coupe or sports car. GM teased one in 2017 and speculation was split on whether the sleek two-door coupe would wear a bowtie or a wreathless crest.
Rounding out the North American EV lineup is the Cruise Origin and two crossovers from Buick.
While GM wasn’t ready to give specific timeframes for the upcoming models, the company confirmed several “high-volume” entries will arrive by 2023. The automaker also confirmed the development schedule for 12 vehicles has been moved up. This includes the Cadillac Lyriq which will arrive in the first quarter of 2022, which is nine months ahead of schedule.
