Bugatti Chiron, Chiron Sport And Divo Recalled In The U.S. Over Defective Stability Control

Bugatti’s multi-million dollar hypercars have been struck by a recall in North America due to a software glitch that could affect the functionality of the Electronic Stability Control (ESC).

In the recall summary, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration notes that “after an ignition cycle, the ESC does not automatically default back to the full-function original mode if the Handling Mode is selected on the Drive Mode switch”.

As a result, the Chiron, Chiron Sport and Divo, which are included in this safety campaign, do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard #126 of ‘Electronic Stability Control Systems’.

All models made over the last few months have had their software system updated, as the French auto firm discovered the issue earlier this year. However, there are 79 examples, with a 100 percent estimated percentage defect, in the possession of private owners, which have to be fixed. To do so, the brand’s authorized technicians will inspect each and update the software free of charge.

The Chirons in question were made from December 21, 2017, to September 21, 2020. The Chiron Sports were put together between November 28, 2018, and September 21, 2020, whereas the Divos from July 24 to October 29, 2020.
