Subaru previewed their electric crossover in January and now the company has confirmed the model will be offered in Europe.
While details are limited, Subaru said the model will be introduced in the “first half of [the] 2020’s” and be a mid-sized crossover that is similar in size to the Forester. The company also noted it will be “built on a platform shared with Toyota.”
More details will be released next year, but Subaru said the vehicle underlines their effort to “reduce its environmental footprint in Europe and satisfy a growing demand for alternative powertrains.” The company also noted the electric crossover will build on their electrification effort, which has already resulted in the launch of mild-hybrid versions of the Impreza, Forester and XV.

While Subaru is staying lighted lipped, the upcoming crossover could be called the Evoltis. That remains unconfirmed, but it will ride on a jointly developed platform designed specifically for electric vehicles.
Known as the e-TNGA architecture, the platform is flexible and will be used to underpin a variety of different vehicles including C- and D-segment sedans and crossovers. The platform is also slated to be available in front, rear and all-wheel drive configurations.
While a lot of details remain unconfirmed, previous reports have suggested the Evoltis could debut at next year’s Tokyo Motor Show. Rumors have also indicated the e-TNGA architecture can accommodate battery packs with capacities ranging from 50 kWh to 100 kWh. This could allow for ranges up to 373 miles (600 km).
