BMW will welcome in the New Year with a special animation that can be displayed on the infotainment screen of various models.
The New Year Festive Animation includes a festive-themed backing track and complex animations that are shown on the screen. In addition, a vehicle’s ambient lighting system will be triggered and produce a light show of its own. The animation will be available across all BMW vehicles fitted with BMW Operating System 7.0 in 41 select countries and can be activated manually through an app in the Vehicle menu or by simply saying ‘Hey BMW, Happy New Year.’

BMW has also launched a similar function just in time for Christmas, though it will only be available in select markets. This festive greeting includes its own animation and light show and can also be triggered through the app or by using the prompt ‘Hey BMW, Merry Christmas.’ This animation will be available to pay for seven days starting today, December 24.
BMW has many reasons to celebrate this year, and one of them is the 2022 iX that was unveiled in production form in November.
The iX uses a battery with a capacity that exceeds 100 kWh and powers two electric motors which combine to produce 496 hp, enough for a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just under 5 seconds. BMW expects the iX to have a range exceeding 372 miles (600 km) on the WLTP test cycle, or just over 300 miles (482 km) according to the EPA’s test procedure.
