Geely has released official ‘spy photos’ of an upcoming crossover, which will go into production in the third quarter of 2021.

The company is keeping details under wraps, but confirmed the model will ride on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) which underpins the Polestar 2, Volvo XC40 and an assortment of Lynk & Co vehicles. The platform is also used on Geely’s Xing Yue crossover coupe and Xing Rui sedan.

While the pictures aren’t very revealing, the crossover sort of resembles a larger XC40. However, there are a number of differences including a unique front fascia, a flatter beltline and a longer rear overhang. We can see a panoramic glass roof and a grille with vertical bars.

Engine options remain unconfirmed, but could potentially carryover from the Xing Yue. If that’s the case, we can expect a mild-hybrid variant with a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that produces 188 hp (140 kW / 190 PS) and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) of torque.

There could also be a plug-in hybrid variant which uses the aforementioned engine and an electric motor to produce a combined output of 255 hp (190 kW / 258 PS) and 306 lb-ft (415 Nm) of torque. Lastly, there could be a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder pumping out 235 hp (175 kW / 238 PS) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque.

While a lot of questions remain, Paultan says reports out of China indicate the crossover is codenamed the KX11 and will measure approximately 189 inches (4800 mm) long. If that number is correct, the model could potentially have a third-row seat.
