The Mercedes-Benz 300SL is one of the car manufacturer’s most iconic models but that didn’t stop one ambitious car builder from transforming the car into a wild restomod.
This project started out with the bare shell of a Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster that was then transplanted onto the chassis of a 2002 Mercedes SLK. Key inspiration was taken from the iconic Porsche Speedster in creating the car, so much so that it actually features the windshield from a Speedster.

While the body is based on a 300SL Roadster, custom molds were made to allow for the builder to fit bespoke panels, without needing to mess with the valuable originals. Most of these new panels are made from fiberglass and there are flared fenders and large cutouts behind the front wheels to house the exhaust pipes. The car is also sitting on a set of custom HRE wheels and has a fully-custom interior clad in gorgeous red leather.
The presence the car has on the road is truly astonishing, thanks in part to the fact that it has air suspension that means it can be lowered down to hunker the pavement.
Powering the car is a supercharged AMG-sourced V6 engine that can be viewed through a neat little cut-out in the hood. This engine delivers just the right amount of performance for the car while also producing a very interesting soundtrack.
As insane as the car already is, designer Jon Sibal recently shared some renderings of an even more wild variant with more prominent fender flares and a blue interior.
