While Porsche was busy expanding the Taycan lineup with a new entry-level, rear-wheel drive model, SportAuto put the Taycan Turbo through its paces at the Hockenheim GP.
The model was subjected to a fast lap of the German track, with the stopwatch showing 1:54.1 at the end of the run.
This means that it was one tenth of a second faster than the BMW M5 Competition and half a second quicker than the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and Porsche 718 Cayman GT4. Nevertheless, the Taycan Turbo could not beat the BMW M5 CS and Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S, which posted a 1:53.6 and 1:53.4 respectively, as revealed in the video description.

As for the spec sheet, you are looking at 3 seconds dead for the 0 to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint in the Taycan Turbo, 10.6 seconds to hit 124 mph (200 km/h) from a standstill and a 161 mph (260 km/h) top speed. It has up to 670 HP (680 PS / 500 kW) on Overboost and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque, and can travel for up to 280 miles (450 km) on the WLTP cycle with the 93.4 kWh lithium-ion battery fully charged.
If you want something more extreme, then the Taycan Turbo S is the one for you. It offers a maximum 750 HP (761 PS / 560 kW), drops the 0-60 mph time to 2.6 seconds and has an identical top speed to the non-S model.
The Taycan Turbo S starts at $185,000 and the Taycan Turbo has an MSRP of $150,900, while the 522 HP (530 PS / 390 kW) 4S and the base 402 HP (408 PS / 300 kW) Taycan will set you back at least $103,800 and $79,900 respectively.
