The 2020 Lincoln Aviator has already been recalled six times, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and now the SUV needs to be taken back to the dealer once more for repairs.
The latest recall campaign includes not only the Aviator, but also the Ford Explorer Police Interceptor, more specifically 283 units in our market and 3 north of the border, which were built at the Chicago Assembly Plant. The police cruisers were put together between May 26 and 30, and the Lincoln SUV from May 28 to June 2, last year.

So, what is the problem this time? According to Ford, the affected vehicles were shipped with contaminated windshield washer fluid. As a result, they no longer comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. The Blue Oval is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue though.
As for the repairs, the company’s authorized technicians will replace not only the windshield washer fluid, but also the whole pump assembly, bottle neck, fluid level sensors and front and rear wiper blades. If necessary, they will also “inspect and repair paint and exterior components”, Ford added.
The company did not say when the recall is expected to begin, but in all likelihood, owners should hear from them in the coming weeks, considering that they probably already have the parts. In the meantime, concerned owners with questions on the topic can reach out the automaker using the 21C01 Ford reference number.
