Wiper blades aren’t terribly exciting as most people buy middle-of-the-road replacements and hope they last a year or two.

Of course, why buy boring wiper blades when you can get BFGoodrich off-road wipers blades?

Designed for people who wish they had tiny tires stuck onto their windshield, the off-road wipers blades draw inspiration from BFGoodrich’s All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires. As a result, they’re bulky and have a tread-inspired design.

Other than that, they boast an “X-Flex suspension” for complete windshield contact and “Scrub-X extreme weather performance” technology that quickly clears away rain, mud and snow as well as bugs and grime. If that wasn’t enough marketing hyperbole, the Secure-X Connector promises easy and secure installation.

The blades were designed with trucks and SUVs in mind, although there’s no word on whether or not they heal fragile male egos. However at $79.99 a set, they’d better as they cost more than twice as much as traditional wiper blades.

Despite seeming like an April Fool’s Day joke, the wiper blades are real and the company had the audacity to claim they’re a “game-changing product that is designed to accept the challenge of off-road driving, especially in difficult and extreme conditions.” Thank goodness for that as we can’t count how many times we’ve seen Wranglers crashing due to normal ‘on-road’ wipers that cost $10 to $20 each.
