Deliveries of the 2021 Mustang Mach-E were delayed Stateside, but this hasn’t stopped Ford from looking further beyond the ‘quality checks’ issue and announce that its electric SUV will be put together in China too.

Set to be manufactured by by Changan Ford, the Chinese Mustang Mach-E will be strictly limited to the local market, where it will launch later this year with all the bells and whistles and a performance edition that will sit at the top of the range.

Ford said the Mustang Mach-E GT offered in the People’s Republic will feature a dual-motor layout for a 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint of around 3 seconds. They didn’t go into specifics, but its American equivalent has 480 hp and up to 634 pound-feet (860 Nm) of torque, a targeted 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) of 3.5 seconds and an EPA-estimated driving range of 235 miles (378 km) with the 88 kWh battery fully juiced up.

The Mach-E will feature a suite of driver assistance systems, Level 2+ semi-autonomous driving function that will allow hands-free driving in certain scenarios, over-the-air updates, SYNC+ infotainment system and others. Ford claims that it is the first automaker in China to offer the cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) technology in a mass production vehicle, a feature that will be included in the Mach-E.

Based on local standards, the most frugal version of the Mustang Mach-E built in China will have an estimated autonomy of more than 600 km (373 miles).
