2020 Infiniti QX50 Recalled Due To Illegible Tire Size And Loading Capacity Placard

Can you tell the correct tire size and loading capacity of your 2020 Infiniti QX50 by reading the placard? Probably not, if your vehicle is involved in the latest safety campaign conducted by Nissan and the NHTSA in the United States.

According to the official release, 8,291 units of the brand’s entry-level crossover are being recalled over an issue with the ‘Tire and Loading Information’ placard. Due to a manufacturing error at the supplier, certain black text may be partially illegible.

The problem was discovered by Infiniti’s parent company Nissan during a routine audit of the QX50, and they decided to conduct an internal investigation, which revealed that “due to an insufficient mesh cleaning process at the supplier, dry paint could adhere to the printing mesh, preventing certain black-print characters from being fully transferred to the placard during the printing process”.

“Nissan made a noncompliance determination to recall the potentially affected vehicles out of an abundance of caution.”

All vehicles included in this safety campaign feature labels from the Mexican supplier Peliculas Utiles and were assembled between January 7 and July 16, 2020. The automaker has informed its dealers on the issue and will proceed to reach out to owners next month, as the recall is expected to begin on March 16.
