Icon has just completed work on its latest project, comprehensively restoring and modifying a 1972 FJ44 Toyota Land Cruiser.
When this Land Cruiser entered Icon’s California workshop, it had no less than 780,000 miles on the clock and was in dire need of some TLC. Icon has left no stone unturned in overhauling the vehicle and making it run like new.

For starters, Icon ditched the standard engine and replaced it with a 6.2-liter GM V8 with fuel injection and 430 hp and 450 lb-ft (610 Nm) of torque. This engine is mated to an Aisin Warner AX15 five-speed manual transmission. They also overhauled the Toyota’s chassis, suspension, and drivetrain, fitting a Dynatrac Dana 44 front and Dana 60 rear axle, as well as a Fox Racing coilover suspension.
When fitting an old vehicle with a powerful, modern engine, it’s extremely important to ensure it can brake just as well as it accelerates. As such, Icon has installed a set of Brembo brake calipers and modern rotors.
Adorning the exterior of this bespoke FJ44 Land Cruiser is a Eucalyptus Green-painted aluminum body. There’s also a seven-layer gray canvas soft top that can be removed to expose occupants to the elements.
Icon’s work continued into the cabin and includes four heated bucket seats and two jump seats in the rear. The interior also features a host of aluminum parts, a reverse camera, navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth.
The restomod Land Cruiser is currently up for sale but isn’t cheap, as it carries a $237,000 price tag.
