Chevrolet has confirmed that it will extend the pause in 2021 Corvette production for a second week.
The automaker announced last week that the Bowling Green Assembly Plant would be shut from February 1-8, citing “supply chain issues.” It soon emerged that production was halted due to a lack of aluminum structural components and transmissions.
In a statement issued to GM Authority, GM Bowling Green Corvette Assembly communications manager Rachel Bagshaw commented that the extension of the production pause has been brought on by an ongoing parts supply issue, without providing more details. Bagshaw did stress, though, that the issue is unrelated to the global chip shortage which has impacted all major car manufacturers around the world.

Chevrolet began producing 2021 model year Corvettes on December 11, 2020. Updates are minor but include two new colors, Red Mist Tintcoat Metallic and Silver Flare Metallic. Moreover, the 2021 car is available with Magnetic Selective Ride Control suspension as a standalone option rather than being exclusive to Z51 Performance Pack models like the 2020 model, and the updated ‘Vette also includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
No mechanical modifications were made to the car for 2021. As such, it continues to rock a 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 delivering 495 hp and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque with the available Performance exhaust. Prices for the 2021 Corvette Stingray start at $59,995 including a $1,095 destination freight charge and increase to $67,495 for the Convertible.
