The next-generation Suzuki Swift may launch as early as mid-2022.
A report from Japanese publication Best Car Web indicates that the fifth-generation Swift will benefit from a series of upgrades, including a newly-developed platform that will either be an improved version of the current car’s architecture or an all-new one.

At least two engine options are expected: a 1.2-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder and a 1.2-liter mild hybrid four-cylinder promising greater power and fuel efficiency than the current model’s engine. Suzuki is also expected to equip the fifth-generation Swift with a raft of new active and passive safety features.
The new Swift family will reportedly also include an updated Swift Sport variant. Best Car Web asserts that alterations will be made to the current 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine to make it more refined and, in all likelihood, to also increase grunt from the current 138 hp and 169 (230 Nm) of torque. The Swift Sport should arrive in 2023.
From a visual standpoint, the new Suzuki Swift will share a resemblance to the outgoing model and have similar proportions. However, the design could feature slightly more curves and softer edges, making the hatchback appear a touch more premium.
It was only five months ago that Suzuki introduced the facelifted 2021 Swift in Europe. In addition to some modest visual updates, the hatch’s standard 1.2-liter engine delivers 82 hp and 79 lb-ft (107 Nm) of torque. An AllGrip four-wheel drive system is also available as an option with the SZ5 trim level.
