Audi is going full steam ahead with the electrification of its line-up and in the coming years will launch a host of new all-electric vehicles.
Its most significant program is Project Artemis. This project will first spawn an EV from Audi and, subsequently, a Bentley and a Porsche as well. The Audi is expected to launch in 2024 and will land with an advanced Level 4 autonomous driving system. It is also expected to include 5G connectivity features, over-the-air updates, and the company’s most advanced electric drivetrain.
Quizzed by Top Gear about the vehicle, Audi boss Marcus Duesmann admitted that the automotive industry is struggling with making autonomous vehicles a reality but said the company’s target is to match the software of Tesla.

“That’s the objective. Tesla has in some areas set standards for new technology. We observe them. But already with the e-Tron GT we have our interior quality and our dealer service,” he said.
During his interview with Top Gear, Duesmann was asked about the possibility of the carmaker launching a new electric R8 supercar. “That wasn’t the original idea,” he responded, “but it could make sense. We could do it if we wanted to.”
Audi’s boss also said he is open to the idea of reviving the A2 as an electric vehicle: “I liked the A2. Maybe we should do a new A2 – maybe electric, maybe call it E2.” This statement comes shortly after Duesmann said the A1 supermini could be killed off.
