Spy photographers recently caught the GMC Hummer EV undergoing testing, but the automaker is cutting them some slack by releasing a new video that shows the electric pickup in action.

Shown in prototype form, the model closely resembles the truck which was introduced last year. As a result, it features a slender grille, removable roof panels, and a short bed with a six-position MultiPro tailgate.

GMC released the clip on Fat Tuesday and noted fans could “enjoy a powdered donut on us.” This is borderline treasonous as the truck will be built in ‘paczki land’ at the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant, which is now known as Factory Zero.

While the video isn’t very revealing, the GMC Hummer EV is slated to be launched this fall in an Edition 1 trim that costs $112,595. The special edition sold out in approximately ten minutes and it will have a tri-motor powertrain that develops a combined output of 1,000 hp (746 kW / 1,014 PS). This will enable the truck to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in approximately three seconds and travel more than 350 miles (563 km) on a single charge.

A more affordable 3X variant will arrive in 2022 with a base price of $99,995. While it will also have three motors, they’ll have a reduced output of around 800 hp (597 kW / 811 PS).  Furthermore, the range will be cut to 300+ miles (483+ km).

In the spring of 2023, a 2X variant will be introduced with two motors that have a combined output of around 625 hp (466 kW / 634 PS). This version will start at $89,995 and be able to travel more than 300 miles (483 km) on a single charge. A more affordable 2 variant will follow a year later with the same motors, but a reduced range of 250+ miles (402+ km).
