Toyota has enhanced the off-road prowess of 2020 and newer Tacomas by launching the TRD Lift Kit.
Suitable for all V6-powered 4×4 models, save for the Double Cab Long Bed and TRD Pro, it is a dealer-installed option with a suggested retail price of $1,350, excluding labor, which is estimated at 4-5 hours.
The lift kit features new Bilstein shock absorbers at both ends, providing an additional 2 inches (50 mm) of lift at the front and 1 inch (25 mm) at the rear. This translates to a 1.7-inch (43 mm) increased ground clearance, as well as improved approach, breakover and departure angles by 3.1, 1.6 and 0.5 degrees, to 32, 23 and 24 degrees respectively, and additional suspension travel.

The highlight of the build is the TRD Pro-style grille, with heritage-inspired ‘Toyota’ lettering and two black bezels for the deleted fog lamps. This feature includes a new Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) millimeter-wave sensor and new camera support bracket that fit within the grille, retaining the full functionality of the bundle. In fact, the automaker claims that this is the only kit validated to be fully compatible with the TSS.
Toyota’s Tacoma TRD Lift Kit is offered with all the hardware components required for installation and comes with a 3-year / 36,000-mile (57,936-km) warranty if it is installed prior to or at the time of the sale, or a 1-year / 12,000-mile (19,312 km) warranty if fitted at a later date.
The 2021 Tacoma comes in SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited and TRD Pro trim levels, priced between $26,250 and $44,175.
