A couple of days ago, missing seat frame bolts forced Volkswagen to recall 56 Tiguans and one Jetta in the U.S. Now Ford is recalling the 2021 Bronco Sport over an issue with bolts, albeit a different one.

According to the information released by the Dearborn automaker, certain units of the compact SUV were assembled with rear suspension modules that might have not been fully secured to the sub-frame due to loose or missing bolts.

Affected vehicles were built at the Hermosillo Stamping and Assembly Plant in Mexico from July 22 to November 24, 2020, and this issue could, according to Ford, affect their stability. Moreover, due to the nature of the problem, Ford mentions that said vehicles may exhibit “reduced rear impact crash performance”, along with the obvious increased risk of injury to the occupants. The automaker is unaware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition, which affects 1,640 cars in the United States, 24 in Canada and 2 in Mexico.

Ford did not say when the recall is expected to begin, but customers will probably be contacted shortly, with the auto firm advising them to schedule an appointment with an authorized dealer. The company’s technicians will then inspect the rear suspension bolts on each vehicle, making sure that they are properly secured to the sub-frame, and will replace them if necessary. The reference number for this recall is 21S04, and concerned owners should reach out to the car manufacturer with any questions they may have on the topic.
