With the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo expected to premiere this spring, the chief of the Taycan model line, Stefan Weckbach, recently took the opportunity to drive a lightly camouflaged prototype on the open road, revealing some details about it.
Marketed as a crossover utility vehicle, the electric estate will have a CUV specific driving mode, Weckbach revealed, which will further optimize the driving dynamics on gravel at the push of a button.

Besides the exclusive driving mode, the Taycan Cross Turismo will also ride slightly higher than the regular Taycan, while other differences, such as the bigger cargo area behind the rear seats, optimized space for backseat occupants, and roof rails, will make it more practical.
“With the Taycan Cross Turismo, we wanted to offer a little bit more space, a little more flexibility and versatility”, Weckbach said. “We developed a completely new roofline, fitted with roof rails, a more generous second row and bigger trunk, all to make a car that is perfect for an active lifestyle. A car that is perfect for both an urban environment and the countryside.”
When it starts arriving at dealers later this year, the Taycan Cross Turismo will, in all likelihood, be offered with the same powertrains as the sedan. Thus, the RWD model will arrive with 402 HP or 469 HP when equipped with the optional Performance Battery Plus, while the 4S will bring 522 HP or 563 HP with the same extra and the Turbo and Turbo S variants will boast 670 HP and 750 HP respectively (all figures on Overboost mode).
