Ford is introducing the updated 2022 Super Duty full-size pickup truck, which will be available in new trims and with new interior tech, starting this summer.

The 2022 Ford Super Duty, seen here in F-250 and F-350 forms, can be specified with the new Lariat Sport Appearance Package for customers that prefer less chrome. The new package includes body-colored bumpers, front grille, and exterior mirrors, as well as a chrome exhaust tip and black running boards.

Ford is also making the very popular Black Appearance Package available on XLT models. This includes a set of 20-inch Ebony Black alloy wheels, body-colored bumpers, grille bars, as well as Ebony Black running boards. The Black Appearance Package will become available in the fall of this year.

In addition, the 2022 Ford Super Duty series gains a new exterior color option, named Atlas Blue, as well as new interior colors, including the Baja interior for Lariat models, and the Navy Pier and Light Slate interior for Limited models.

The biggest tech upgrade of the 2022MY changes is the new, landscaped-oriented 12-inch SYNC4 infotainment system, which comes with twice the computing power of the previous system and features physical controls for quick access to commonly used functions.

The all-new SYNC4 infotainment system, which is fitted as standard on Lariat and above models, offers wireless connectivity for both the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as the SYNC AppLink apps. In addition, the system allows multitasking functions by splitting the screen to see navigation, music, truck features, and more, at the same time, as well as a natural-voice control feature.

“Super Duty customers aren’t just working harder these days, they are also working smarter,” said Todd Eckert, Ford Truck Group Marketing manager. “We’re further helping our customers raise their game and get the job done with purposeful technology through the introduction of SYNC 4 with a larger 12-inch screen and 24/7 cloud connectivity for both their truck and mobile devices.”

The 2022 Ford Super Duty’s engine range includes the 7.3-liter V8 unit with 430 HP and 475 lb-ft of torque, and the third-gen 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V8 with 475 HP and 1,050 lb-ft of torque. Ford claims best-in-class figures in maximum conventional towing, with up to 24,200 pounds, maximum payload capacity, at 7,850 pounds, as well as in maximum fifth-wheel towing, with a rating of 32,500 pounds. Maximum gooseneck towing is rated at up to 37,000 pounds.
