Uh-Oh: 2022 Kia Stinger Already Revealed And Available At U.S. And Canadian Dealerships

The North American 2022 Kia Stinger facelift was teased on Monday by the Korean automaker through a cropped photo. However, it seems several U.S. and Canadian dealerships have already received units of the mildly updated model, photographing and listing them for sale online ahead of the official March 16th unveiling.

Thanks to a tip from one of our commentators, ‘Michael L’, we found the car listed on a number of U.S. Kia dealers on Autotrader as well as Canadian such as Ontario’s Kia Citrus Motors.

As expected, the features seen on the Korean and European facelifted Stinger, which were announced late last year, will make it to the North American market cars. These including minor tweaks, with new headlights, a revised rear section, Kia’s new logo and a series of interior updates for the 2022 model year.

According to a dealer spec sheet (bear in mind we’ll have to wait for the official release to make sure), the refresh is said to bring a slightly revised engine output for the 3.3-liter V6. The update sees 3hp added to total output, from 365 hp to 368 hp. Not a massive jump, but one that’s achieved by a new active exhaust system on the GT models. Torque figures for the V6 remain unchanged.

While not listed at any dealers we saw at the time of writing, it’s been widely reported that the Stinger will drop the 255 hp 2.0-liter turbo, replacing it with a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 300 horsepower. The single transmission option is expected to stay the same, with an 8-speed auto ‘box.

Outside, the Stinger gets new headlights and new taillights, with more LED lighting incorporated. The GT models will receive larger tailpipes, too, along with a revised rear diffuser. New wheel designs are expected to feature, with 18-inch and 19-inch designs on offer. Also, making an appearance will likely be a “black pack,” with blacked-out items such as the external mirror caps and wheels.

What’s also evident in the images is the new interior of the 2022 Stinger. It features a 10.25-inch touch screen, a sizeable upgrade from the 8.0-inch display of the outgoing car. Interior quality and materials have been boosted too. Finally, the 2022 model boasts Kia’s new and fancier looking logo, both on the outside and inside.

How much will it cost?

From a previously leaked ordering guide, we know that the base four-cylinder 2022 Kia Stinger GT-Line will start from $37,135 including a destination charge of $1,045, representing a $3,000 jump, which would be partially justified by the more powerful engine. On the other end, the top-of-the range V6 turbo GT2 costs $54,535, a $900 increase over last year.
