Hyundai has taken the wraps off the 2022 Kona N in a series of shadowy teaser images.

The company is staying tight-lipped, but the pictures reveal the model will be more extreme than Kona N Line.

Starting up front, we can see a unique honeycomb mesh grille with a prominent N badge. The model also has a black accent on the bumper as well as a red line that wraps around the sides of the crossover. Elsewhere, there are unique alloy wheels and body-color fender flares.

While the changes to the front appear relatively minor, the same can’t be said about the rear end as the high-performance model has a black diffuser and a sporty dual exhaust system. Other highlights include a “double-wing” spoiler and a triangular third brake light.

Hyundai is keeping performance specifications under wraps, but the automaker has previously confirmed the model will have a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The engine is expected to carryover from the Veloster N, where it produces 275 hp (205 kW / 279 PS) and 260 lb-ft (353 Nm) of torque.

Regardless of the final numbers, Hyundai has said the Kona N will deliver a “powerful and nimble driving experience” as well as a “variety of high-performance driving features such as launch control.”

We can expect to learn more shortly as the model will be introduced soon.
