Online presales of the Acura TLX Type S started on March 17 in Canada and ended later that same day. After just eight hours, all 119 units were gone.
The TLX Type S is the first Type S in 13 years and it’s the most powerful ever thanks to a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 that makes 355 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via the SH-AWD system, which features torque-vectoring to help it through the corners.
No wonder, then, that the Type S sold out in a matter of hours. And although 119 pre-orders may not sound like much, the pre-ordering process wasn’t cheap, as in order to get a build slot, buyers had to put down a $2,500 ($1,986 USD) deposit.
The good news is that there are more – but not that many. Canada’s allotment for the TLX Type S is limited to just 240 units in all. Hopeful buyers can call their dealer or visit Acura’s website to add their name to a waiting list.

Canadian prices start at $60,000 for the TLX Type S, while in the US they start in the “low $50,000s”. No matter where you buy it, though, the TLX Type S promises to be fun to drive and even features a Sport+ mode that’s specially engineered for a more enjoyable driving experience.
A double-wishbone front suspension and sport-tuned chassis should also offer sharp handling, while powerful Brembo brakes will ensure you can slow down enough to allow the Pirelli P-Zeros to launch you around any corner. Power will be routed through a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Canadian deliveries are set to commence in June, a month after the U.S.
