Produced for just a single model year, the 1M ticked every performance box imaginable and quickly garnered a cult following. BMW had only intended on building 2,700 examples but demand for the car was so high that 6,309 examples were produced in total. Of these, 740 were sold in the United States and this low-mileage example is already attracting quite a lot of interest.

Listed up for auction through Bring A Trailer, this 1M was purchased new from Sterling BMW in Newport Beach, California and is painted in Valencia Orange Metallic, making it one of 435 examples in North America in this color. Contrasting the orange paint are the standard 19-inch alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. The car is being sold with service records, manufacturer’s literature, accessories, a window sticker, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The interior features power-adjustable and heated front seats clad in black Boston leather with orange stitching, a Harman Kardon audio system, Bluetooth, keyless entry, cruise control, and an in-dash navigation systemas well as Alcantara accents on the headliner, gauge cluster shroud, door panels, and headliner.

Powering the 1M is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 335 hp and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque that’s mated to a six-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels.
