It only seems like yesterday that the Toyota Yaris Cross hit the market and already, the Yaris Cross range has grown with the unveiling of the Adventure variant.

Like the standard Toyota Yaris Cross, the Yaris Cross Adventure is underpinned by the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) but is differentiated from the standard model thanks to some increased ruggedness, as its name suggests.

Most notably, Toyota has equipped the SUV with a new front bumper with a slightly more off-road-inspired design. It is a similar story at the rear where new trim on the bumper catches the eye. The Yaris Cross Adventure models also come with a set of silver roof rails as standard along with 18-inch alloy wheels finished in dark grey.

Alterations continue into the cabin and include a black headliner, piano black trim, a unique design on the leather-like seats, and a Warm Gold deco line that stretches across the instrument panel and inner door moldings.

Shoppers who opt for the Yaris Cross Adventure can also opt for the flagship Premiere Edition. This model adds leather upholstery throughout the cabin, a powered back door with kick sensors, Head-Up display, the option of various bi-tone color combinations, and bespoke 18-inch machined alloy wheels. The Premiere Edition will be available for the first 12 months of sales.

In Europe, the Toyota Yaris Cross, including the Adventure variant, is powered by a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine working alongside a small electric motor to produce 114 hp. The compact SUV also comes as standard with an intelligent all-wheel drive system that automatically switches from front-wheel drive to all-wheel drive depending on road conditions.

Different name for the UK version

While mainland Europe will get the new versions of the Toyota Yaris Cross under the Adventure nameplate, in the U.K., the two new models will be marketed as the Yaris Cross Dynamic and Yaris Cross Dynamic Premiere Edition.

European orders will open in early Q2 2021 before sales kick off in September.
