Renault has opened the order books for the all-new Kangoo, the latest generation of the carmaker’s van-based small family model.
The new Renault Kangoo will go on sale in its home market in France on April 1, with prices starting from 24,900 euros ($29,180 in current exchange rates).
The more serious styling of the new Renault Kangoo might be too similar to that of the latest Dacia Sandero models but Renault says that their goal was to move their new family van more upmarket with its pronounced shoulders, and the chrome inserts; even the base trim level of the new Kangoo will come with LED lights front and rear after all.

The new Renault Kangoo will become a sister model to the upcoming Mercedes Citan, and might even spawn even more rebadged variants inside the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance.
As ever, the more important features of a model like the Kangoo are to be found inside, where Renault worked hard to fill the cavernous cabin with clever practical solutions. The dashboard also appears to be made out of better-quality materials while the soundproofing has been improved by 10 percent over the outgoing model.
Renault says that the new Kangoo offers more than 49 liters (1.73 cubic feet) of easily accessible storage compartments inside the cabin while the trunk can swallow 775 liters (27.3 cubic feet) of stuff with all the seats in their upright position. Speaking of which, the rear passengers will enjoy the best legroom in the segment, sitting in three full-sized seats no less, while easy access is guaranteed thanks to the rear sliding doors.
The engine range of the new Renault Kangoo includes the 100 HP 1.0-liter TCe three-cylinder and the 130 HP 1.3-liter TCe four-cylinder petrol units, as well as the 1.5-liter dCi diesel.
Renault will also add a pure electric version of the Kangoo in the range on a later date, featuring a 44 kWh battery pack and a 100 HP electric motor. The panel van variant of the electric Renault Kangoo promises a driving range of 165 miles (265 km) on the WLTP cycle.
No less than 14 driver assistance systems are offered as standard with the new Kangoo, including active emergency braking, cruise control and speed limiter with hill-descent control, adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go and lane-keeping assist, and active blind-spot monitoring. An all-new Renault Easy Link infotainment with an eight-inch touchscreen display is also present.
