While it would have been nice to see the Dodge Viper stick around for a sixth-generation, the truth is that it would have had a hard time competing with the mid-engined C8 Corvette. That’s where this mid-engined, Dodge Viper-powered supercar comes into the equation.

This wild creation is the brainchild of Casey Putsch and features the 8.0-liter naturally aspirated V10 of a second-generation Viper. Perhaps even more remarkable than this is the fact that this engine will be slotted behind the cabin of a bespoke supercar with bodywork that mimics that of the Nissan GTP ZX-Turbo race car.

As you can imagine, this isn’t your ordinary engine swap project and pretty much involves building a car from the ground up. Most notably, the car will feature a completely bespoke chassis and Putsch wants to drive it on the street. As such, he will actually have it equipped with air conditioning.

The YouTuber intends on mating the Viper’s V10 with the manual transmission of a 996-generation Porsche 911 Turbo. Putsch also plans on entering the car into the National Auto Sport Association’s unlimited class, reviving the wild, unruly prototypes that raced during the 1980s and early 1990s. He also wants to experiment with equipping it with a Gordon Murray-inspired fan to bump up the downforce levels.

This clip is largely an overview of the project and shows Putsch placing the bodywork around the drivetrain of the Viper. Expect to see more videos about the project released in the coming weeks and months.
