Range Rover Evoque LWB Stretches Out Ahead Of Its Big Debut In China

Spy photographers have caught the long-wheelbase Range Rover Evoque on multiple occasions, but the model has now been revealed by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Looking instantly recognizable, the Evoque LWB reportedly measures 178.3 inches (4,531 mm) long and has a wheelbase that spans 111.9 inches (2,841 mm). That’s an increase of 6.3 inches (160 mm) in both regards.

While the model is 11 inches (280 mm) shorter than the Velar, the difference in their wheelbases is a mere 1.3 inches (33 mm). As a result, the Evoque LWB should have a spacious cabin that is on par with its larger sibling. This was one of the main complaints about the crossover as the standard Evoque only has 33.8 inches (859 mm) of rear seat legroom.

To accommodate the extra length, the Evoque LWB has been equipped longer rear doors and a more expansive greenhouse. The roof has also been stretched, but it retains a steep slope like the standard model.

While there was speculation that the model would be offered with seven seats, this particular version only has five. However, that could possibly change in the future.

Power comes from a familiar turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 246 hp (183 kW / 249 PS) and 269 lb-ft (365 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system. This setup enables the standard Evoque to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in eight seconds flat, before hitting a top speed of 142 mph (229 km/h). However, we can expect the long-wheelbase variant to be a bit slower.

The Evoque LWB will reportedly be launched soon, so look for a possible debut at the Shanghai Auto Show.
