Rimac is getting closer to the launch of the long-awaited C_Two and has released a video showing just how extraordinarily fast the electric hypercar is in a straight line.

This video was filmed on a section of a highway in Croatia and shows the Rimac C_Two hitting 60 mph (96 km/h) as verified by a GPS timer in 2.39 seconds, sprinting down the eighth-mile in 5.96 seconds at 129.67 mph and running from 0-130 mph in just 6.03 seconds. The prototype ultimately completes the quarter-mile in 8.94 seconds at 159 mph.

Later on in the clip, Mate Rimac lines up the C_Two against a Porsche Taycan Turbo S. Despite botching the launch and letting the Porsche out to an early lead, the C_Two quickly closes in and passes the German sedan.

What makes these times particularly impressive is the fact that they were recorded on the street and the car encountered a whole bunch of wheelspin. In addition, Mate Rimac said that the car was running at about 85-90% power, meaning the C_Two has even more performance up its sleeve. What’s more, there was also a passenger in the car, potentially adding up to 200 lbs of extra weight. The car’s launch control system has also yet to be developed.

This year is proving to be a very important one in the history of Rimac. Not only will it begin customer deliveries of the C_Two later this year, but Porsche recently strengthened its strategic partnership with the automaker and after a €70 million (~$83 million) investment, now owns a 24 per cent stake in Rimac.
