While roundabouts are common around the world, they are less common in the United States, let alone in rural communities of the U.S. Evidently, drivers in the Rowan County area of Kentucky need some help to work out how to properly use one.
This video was recently shared to Reddit and has racked up over 130,000 votes. The drone footage shows motorists using the roundabout but most have no idea of how to drive around it correctly.
In the clip, many drivers can be seen entering the roundabout on the wrong side of the road, as if they were driving in Australia or the UK. In one instance, the driver of a pickup towing a trailer pulls to the left of the road as they approach the roundabout and proceeds to make a left-hand turn on the wrong side of the road. Half a dozen other motorists follow the lead of the pickup driver, seemingly without realizing the mistake they are making.

Fortunately, some motorists do appear to be getting the hang of using the roundabout and can be seen passing through it correctly and without incident.
WYMT reports that this is the first roundabout in northeastern Kentucky and replaced an intersection at routes 60 and 801 where roughly 4,000 vehicles pass through every day. The intersection saw a number of collisions over the years and while it may take local drivers some time to get used to the roundabout, it should help to make things safer.
