The Rivian R1T is shaping up to be one of the most interesting electric vehicles on the market and, from mid-2022, it will be available with a removable roof.

The electric car manufacturer didn’t confirm the impending availability of the removable roof in a press release and instead, it mentions the forthcoming option on the pickup’s official online configurator.

It remains to be seen what form the removable roof will take. It is possible that Rivian will develop a roof with separate sections like the one in the Jeep Wrangler, or perhaps it may create a roof that can be taken off as a single piece.

In early April, Rivian detailed the warranty information for both the R1T and R1S. The comprehensive portion of the warranty will cover the cost of all parts and labor necessary for any defective materials for 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. The battery pack and all of its internal components, as well as the powertrain, are warrantied for 8 years or 175,000 miles. Rivian will also provide an 8-year unlimited mile warranty for protection against corrosion of the body panels.

Deliveries of the Rivian R1T will kick off in June, while the first R1S SUVs will reach customers in August.
